Symptoms, Diagnosis, Imaging Tests & Treatment Of Uterine Cancer

  • Symptoms

Patients with uterine cancer present with symptoms of postmenopausal bleeding, irregular vaginal bleeding, pelvic pain.

  • Uterine cancer diagnosis:

Uterine cancer is diagnosed by uterine biopsy which involves collection of tissue from inside the uterus and subjecting it to examination by a histopathologist to look for cancerous cells under a microscope.

  • Imaging Tests:

like ultrasound, MRI, CT, PET CT scan help in determining the extra-uterine spread of the disease. The best part is that majority (75%) of the cases of uterine cancer are diagnosed in stage I since women report early due to symptomatic bleeding abnormalities.

  • Treatment:

Surgery involves removal of the uterus, ovaries and tubes along with lymph nodes present in the pelvis and/or abdomen along with omental biopsy depending on certain risk factors. This surgery can safely be done via the minimally invasive robotic route without compromising the oncological outcome.
